Afternoon school bus services across Caboolture, Morayfield and surrounding Moreton Bay suburbs have been cancelled as widespread flooding and dangerous road conditions disrupt the region’s transport network.

On Thursday, 22 October 2026, Kangaroo Bus Lines announced the cancellation of all its afternoon Translink school services numbered 7011 through 7158, citing ongoing flooding and safety concerns. The disruption extends across 18 localities, including Bellmere, Burpengary, Narangba, North Lakes, Deception Bay and Redcliffe.

The cancellations affect the operator’s scheduled afternoon school transport, leaving families needing to confirm alternative arrangements directly with their schools and transport providers.

School transport cancelled across 18 localities

Kangaroo Bus Lines identified Caboolture, Morayfield, Bellmere, Burpengary, Burpengary East, North Harbour, Moorina, Rocksberg, Narangba, Deception Bay, Upper Caboolture, Kurwongbah, Dakabin, North Lakes, Rothwell, Kippa Ring, Redcliffe and Newport as affected areas.

The operator’s announcement covers its afternoon Translink school service range, rather than every bus route operating across those suburbs. It did not identify individual school closures or announce replacement buses for each cancelled service.

School services in Dayboro, Ferny Grove and Samford were expected to continue operating, although the company warned of possible delays caused by road closures, flooding, diversions and changing weather conditions.

Kangaroo Bus Lines said transfers would be met wherever safely possible, with its operations team continuing to monitor conditions. Passengers were directed to TransportMe for service updates.

Passenger buses suspended between Caboolture and Redcliffe

Regular passenger services also experienced extensive disruption, with Translink confirming suspensions across several major connections in northern Moreton Bay.

In an update reviewed at 11:42 a.m., Translink listed four suspended routes: 649 between Nambour and Caboolture, 660 between Redcliffe and Caboolture, 664 departing Burpengary Plaza and 667 departing Morayfield bus station.

Route 655, which operates a Caboolture loop service, had earlier been suspended but was reported to be resuming from the 10:30 a.m. departure at Caboolture bus station, according to a 10:57 a.m. update.

Translink warned that major delays were expected across the affected services. The suspensions added to the transport difficulties caused by severe weather across the region.

Families urged to check afternoon travel arrangements

The school transport cancellations apply to Thursday afternoon services. Kangaroo Bus Lines did not confirm in its supplied statement whether the same arrangements would extend to Friday, 23 October.

Families relying on school buses were advised to monitor operator notices and school communications, particularly where flooding had affected normal road access.

Kangaroo Bus Lines updates are available through TransportMe and its official Facebook page, while Translink publishes changes to regular passenger services through its service updates website.
