Redcliffe Jetty repairs have temporarily restricted access to the southern pontoon and parts of the jetty head, while the northern pontoon and most of the structure remain open. Structural work is underway beneath the jetty to maintain its safety and extend its service life.

The maintenance program began in June 2026 and is expected to continue until early 2027. Temporary fencing has been installed around affected sections, although the remaining areas are available for public use during construction.

Years Of Exposure To Coastal Weather

The existing Redcliffe Jetty opened in 1999 and is the third structure built at the location. Over the past 27 years, it has been exposed to coastal weather conditions, including those associated with ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred in 2025.

The Bureau of Meteorology recorded a wind gust of 104 km/h at Redcliffe during the cyclone on 8 March 2025. However, the published project information does not identify any particular structural damage directly caused by the weather event.

The current maintenance program involves repairing and upgrading key components beneath the jetty. City of Moreton Bay has identified the effects of time and weather as reasons for the work, which is intended to preserve the structure for continued use.

The individual structural elements undergoing repairs have not been detailed in the published project information.

Access During Redcliffe Jetty Repairs

Visitors can continue using the accessible sections of the jetty, including the northern pontoon. The southern pontoon and some areas of the jetty head remain restricted while construction is underway. People using the jetty are advised to take care around private vessels moored nearby, avoid jumping or diving from the structure and remain alert to slippery surfaces.

Contractors will generally be on site between 7 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday. However, there may be periods when no crews are present while construction work is undertaken off-site. Some construction noise and other disruptions may occur, with efforts being made to minimise their impact throughout the project.

The repairs are scheduled to continue into early 2027, although an exact date for reopening all restricted areas has not been announced. Further information and updated access arrangements are available through the Redcliffe Jetty maintenance works page.
