The following information relates generally to road related enforcement operations and statistics reported for the Moreton Police District which includes statistics for Redcliffe, Deception Bay, Burpengary, Caboolture, Bribie Island, Woodford, Kilcoy and Moore Police Divisions. The statistics relate to the week ending on April 2. The information has been compiled by the Deception Bay Road Policing Unit.
Road Fatalities
As of midnight April 2, the Queensland road toll is 56 fatalities, three up on last week and three less than the same time last year.
The Southern Police Region, of which Moreton is a member, has had 12 which is six less than last year.
Moreton District is sitting on four fatalities from three crashes, three up on last year.
Operations/Enforcement
Police currently attended to local operations, however due to the severity of ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie, a number of resources were sent to assist with calls for service due to flooding, damage and road closures. Again we saw

Suspicious fire, Caboolture
Police are investigating after fire destroyed a house in Caboolture this evening.
Emergency crews attended the Elliott Street address around 6.30pm to find the residence fully engulfed.
No one was inside the home at the time.
Preliminary investigations indicate the cause of the blaze to be suspicious.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have been in the vicinity at the time of the fire and witnessed anything suspicious to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.

Bribie Island Police weekly wrap up, Wednesday April 5
Last week officers from Bribie Island were kept busy not only with local law enforcement activities, but also preparing for and working during the impact of ex-tropical cyclone Debbie as it passed through our area of operation.
The Bribie Island Emergency Management Group (Police, Ambulance, Fire, Parks and Wildlife, Volunteer Marine Rescue and the SES) worked together to ensure a coordinated response with Moreton Bay Regional Council, who activated the emergency shelter on First Avenue and brought additional resources onto the Island. Fortunately our area wasn’t heavily affected, but it was very pleasing to see how well all agencies responded, and the state of preparedness of the local community. Heeding warnings and being prepared in advance makes all the difference.
The campsites have since reopened, so officers have recommenced their patrols of the off-road areas, and will continue to do so over the school holidays. Traffic enforcement continued where possible last week, with 92 random breath
Execution of search warrants and arrest – Race fixing investigation
Detectives from the Queensland Racing Crime Squad attached to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission have this week executed search warrants at properties of five harness racing participants.
This resulted in the arrest of a 46-year-old Warwick man who has been charged with one count of Match Fixing under the Queensland Criminal Code.
This action is the result of a protracted investigation by the QPS, CCC and QRIC into systemic match fixing in the harness racing industry.
Premises visited this week included properties at Limestone Ridges, Warwick, The Gap, Logan Village and Redcliffe. Detectives seized mobile phones, computers, documents and clothing. The items will now be forensically examined as part of the investigation.
Since its inception July 1 2016 the QRCS has been collocated with the Queensland Racing Integrity Commissioner at Albion and is tasked with investigating serious animal cruelty, match fixing and major and organised crime across all three codes of racing.

Shot fired, Caboolture
Police are investigating following a road rage incident at Caboolture this afternoon during which what appeared to be an air rifle was shot out the window of a car.
Preliminary information suggests a 36-year-old man was driving his work ute north along Beerburrum Road around 1.15pm when another car swerved towards his vehicle in the right lane.
As the man travelled towards Henzell Road he changed lanes, and the same car described as a blue Ford Focus hatchback drove up beside him in the outside lane.
A man then pointed a firearm similar to an air rifle out of the window and fired a single shot as he passed before driving off along Henzell Street.
The victim heard the shot strike his vehicle however there was no significant damage. The man was shaken however uninjured as a result of the incident
The male driver of the Ford Focus is described as Caucasian in appearance with
Update – Race fixing investigation
Detectives from the Queensland Racing Crime Squad attached to the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission have this evening arrested a second man following the execution of search warrants at properties of harness racing participants.
A 27-year-old Limestone Ridges man has been charged with four counts of Match Fixing under the Queensland Criminal Code. He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 11.
It follows the arrest of a 46-year-old Warwick man who was charged with one count of Match Fixing.
The arrests are the result of a protracted investigation by the QPS, CCC and QRIC into systemic match fixing in the harness racing industry.
Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation no further comment can be made at this time.

Armed robbery, Rothwell
Police are continuing to investigate an incident in which a woman on a mobility scooter was robbed at knife-point in Rothwell yesterday.
The woman was travelling in a park between Delmar and Windlass streets when she was approached by two teenaged males around 3.10pm.
They demanded she hand over money before one of them shook the scooter while the other produced a knife and started cutting its canopy.
While defending herself, the woman dropped a small amount of cash from her pocket. The pair grabbed the cash and fled the scene on bicycles.
The woman was not physically injured.
The first male is described as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander in appearance, about 18 years of age, approximately 175cm tall with black curly hair. He was wearing a black plug earing with a skull on it, grey shorts and a blue singlet and riding a mountain bike.
The second male is described as being Caucasian
Dangerous driving charge, Morayfield
Police have charged two boys following a traffic crash that occurred early this morning in Morayfield.
Officers were called to Oakey Flat Road this morning at 2.30am after a car which is alleged to have been stolen from Morayfield this morning left the road and rolled.
On arrival, the five occupants including a 19-year-old woman, a 13-year-old girl and three boys, two aged 15 and one aged 16 fled the scene.
They were located around 500 meters from the crash site by the dog squad.
Three of the occupants were taken to hospital for observation and treatment of minor injuries.
Two 15-year-old boys have been charged with one count each unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one has also been charged with dangerous driving.
