Prepare for severe storm
Police are encouraging residents in the Moreton Bay Regional Council area to be storm ready ahead of the severe storm which is predicted to hit the area for the later part of this week, particularly late this evening into Friday.
The current Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) predictions show heavy rainfall in excess of 200mm and damaging winds could be experienced.
There are a number of ways to be storm ready:

Bribie Island Police weekly wrap up, Wednesday March 29
This week officers from Bribie Island were called to attend several incidents involving stealing from vehicles and dwellings. Stolen bicycles were also reported several times during the week as well. In some instances property was stolen from insecure homes while the occupants were inside asleep, which is highly concerning. All residents are asked to lock their homes, check that their cars are secured, and be alert to any suspicious activity in their area. Historically there is often an increase in this type of offences over the holiday period, so please keep an eye on your own residence and that of your neighbours. If you see anyone loitering in your area, particularly in the early hours of the morning, please contact the station. The stations Volunteer in Policing (VIP) Mr Graham Gibb, is also available to assist with home security audits. Please contact the station for more information on 3410 9222.

Armed robbery, Clontarf
Detectives investigating the armed robbery of a 20-year-old man in Clontarf on Friday night are appealing for two witnesses who rendered assistance to come forward.
Around 8.45pm the man was walking through Pikett Park when a man on a push bike confronted him and punched him in the stomach.
The man then threatened him with a knife before stealing his mobile phone and fleeing on his bike.
Two men who were in the area at the time chased after him but the man rode away along Pearson Street.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 183cm tall with a ginger moustache and goatee and was wearing a blue and white cap, black t-shirt and jeans. He was riding a blue and grey mountain bike.
Investigators want to hear from anyone with information about this incident, including the two men, who attempted to stop the man.

Bribie Island Police weekly wrap up, Wednesday April 5
Last week officers from Bribie Island were kept busy not only with local law enforcement activities, but also preparing for and working during the impact of ex-tropical cyclone Debbie as it passed through our area of operation.
The Bribie Island Emergency Management Group (Police, Ambulance, Fire, Parks and Wildlife, Volunteer Marine Rescue and the SES) worked together to ensure a coordinated response with Moreton Bay Regional Council, who activated the emergency shelter on First Avenue and brought additional resources onto the Island. Fortunately our area wasn’t heavily affected, but it was very pleasing to see how well all agencies responded, and the state of preparedness of the local community. Heeding warnings and being prepared in advance makes all the difference.
The campsites have since reopened, so officers have recommenced their patrols of the off-road areas, and will continue to do so over the school holidays. Traffic enforcement continued where possible last week, with 92 random breath

Easter road safety campaign launches as school holidays kick off
Wet conditions will be the biggest threat on Queensland roads as we launch our new road safety campaign to coincide with Easter school holidays.
The campaign, launched earlier today, is urging motorists to drive to conditions and check for road closures before leaving home.
Road Policing Command Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating said extra officers would target the Fatal Five over the school holiday period with a high visibility presence on the roads.
“There will be an increased police presence on the State’s major road networks over the next three weeks, with officers maintaining high visibility in order to discourage the contributing factors of road trauma,” Assistant Commissioner Keating said.
“The 2015 Easter holiday period was the worst year on record for fatalities on our roads. Then 2016 was the best year yet. We’re hoping to replicate the positive result this Easter and would encourage everyone to remain vigilant and make wise decisions on our roads.”
