Redcliffe has become the stage for a groundbreaking motorbike stunt as Australian rider Harry Bink successfully executed the world’s first double backflip on a pier.

The daring feat, performed at the iconic Redcliffe Jetty in front of a massive crowd, adds another layer of excitement to the city’s anticipation of the Fox Australian Supercross Championship, set to return to Kayo Stadium on the 12th of October.

Bink’s journey to this historic moment was a spectacle in itself. He began with a base jump from a helicopter onto Moreton Island, followed by a boat ride with The Mad Hueys to the mainland. Finally, he mounted his motorbike and took to the jetty for the record-breaking stunt.

“Doing it here on the jetty was truly wild,” Bink exclaimed, describing the unique sensation of performing the backflip high above the water, with the added pressure of a large audience. “When I did the first rotation, it felt like I was three times higher than usual. The crowd’s energy was insane.”

The successful stunt has amplified the anticipation for the Supercross Championship. Kelly Bailey, the Championship director, expressed confidence in a sell-out crowd for the first race, citing the unwavering support the event has historically received in Queensland. The boutique venue of Kayo Stadium, with its ideal layout and size, promises a world-class track and an electrifying atmosphere for fans.

Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery extended a warm welcome to the supercross community, acknowledging the event’s significance in showcasing the region’s diverse offerings. “This is an incredible opportunity to showcase everything our city has to offer,” he stated. “We encourage fans to stay and explore the beautiful beaches and hinterland of Moreton Bay.”

Ticket pre-sales commenced today, with general sales set to begin on Friday, 14th of June. As Redcliffe basks in the glow of Bink’s extraordinary achievement, the city gears up for an adrenaline-fueled supercross season that promises thrills both on and off the track.
