Island Dance Crowned at Pumicestone Small Businesses Awards

The vibrant small business community of Pumicestone came together last week for the 2024 Pumicestone Small Businesses of the Year awards gala, with local dance studio Island Dance taking home three different recognitions.

Island Dance was recognised as the Best Bribie Business, Pumicestone Small Business of the Year and Best Health, Wellbeing and Fitness at the 2024 Pumicestone Small Businesses of the Year awards.

Established in 2015, Island Dance has blossomed into a beloved community pillar, nurturing far more than just technical dance skills. The studio prides itself on guiding students through a transformative journey that forges unbreakable friendships, instils unwavering self-confidence, and crafts cherished memories to last a lifetime.

Pumicestone Small Businesses of the Year Awards 

Hosted by State Member for Pumicestone Ali King, the 2024 Pumicestone Small Businesses of the Year awards celebrated entrepreneurial excellence across the area encompassing Bribie Island, Sandstone Point, Ningi, Beachmere, Caboolture and surrounds.

  • Best Market and Microbusiness – Brooklyn’s Finest – American Hot Dog Company
  • Best Education and Childcare – Bribie Island Community Kindergarten
  • Outstanding Customer Service Award – Tyson from Bongaree Bubbles & Clips
  • Young Entrepreneur of the Year – Callum from Bribie Pets Supplies
  • Pumicestone Small Business of the Year – Island Dance 

Over 200 small business owners and employees attended the ceremony at Bribie Island RSL, cheering on their peers alongside Queensland Small Business Commissioner Dominique Lamb, who announced the winners determined by over 8,400 community votes.

Ms King mentioned that she established the awards to recognise the talent and efforts of local small businesses across various industries like hospitality, retail, childcare, and pet services. In its second year, the awards gained significant traction, with over 8,400 community members voting for their favourite local businesses.

Ms King expressed her pride in hosting the Small Business Awards Gala Night, which brought together businesses from Bribie, Sandstone Point, Ningi, Beachmere, Caboolture, and surrounding areas. She found it heartwarming to witness the supportive nature of the local business community, with businesses cheering each other on during the event.
