Redcliffe’s Foreshore Springs to Life as Easter Extravaganza Returns

The gentle sea breeze drifting along Redcliffe Parade carries more than just the scent of salt and sunshine — it brings the promise of chocolate, laughter, and a community celebration that locals eagerly await each year.

As the Easter long weekend approaches, Redcliffe’s iconic seaside markets are set to transform into a vibrant festival ground for the much-anticipated Redcliffe Markets Easter Extravaganza, drawing families, visitors, and market lovers to the picturesque peninsula just north of Brisbane.

On Friday, 3 April, and Sunday, 5 April, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., the foreshore will buzz with energy as more than 250 stalls line the waterfront, offering everything from locally crafted goods to gourmet street eats. Colourful Easter decorations will sway in the coastal breeze, while live music fills the air, setting a lively tone for the festivities.

Children will clutch baskets in anticipation, scanning the crowd for the event’s most beloved guest — the Easter Bunny. With boundless enthusiasm, the fluffy celebrity will bounce through the markets, posing for photos and delighting young visitors with warm hugs and playful antics.

Beyond the chocolate treats and festive cheer, the event also carries a strong sense of community purpose. This year’s celebration introduces family-friendly attractions including a dunk tank and a towering rock wall, with proceeds supporting the vital work of Redcliffe Hospital. Parents are expected to cheer as brave volunteers take the plunge into chilly waters, while others test their strength scaling the climbing wall, all in the spirit of giving back.

Nearby, creative workshops will invite children to express their artistic flair through Easter-themed crafts. Tables scattered with paints, ribbons, and decorations will become hubs of imagination, where small hands carefully create colourful keepsakes to take home.

Food lovers will be spoilt for choice, with the aroma of freshly prepared dishes drifting through the crowd. From savoury delights to indulgent sweets, the market’s celebrated gourmet street eats promise something for every palate. Meanwhile, stalls showcasing locally made goods will highlight the region’s vibrant community of artisans and small businesses.

Iconic Redcliffe Peninsula Course Offers Runners a Chance for Personal Bests and Community Spirit

Athletes and casual walkers will gather on the Redcliffe Peninsula to test their limits on a fast, coastal track that has become a staple for fitness enthusiasts across the region.

Race Registrations and Event Timing

Organisers confirmed that registrations for the 2026 Jetty 2 Jetty Fun Run will open at 8 a.m. on Sunday, January 18, 2026. The main event is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026, with activities running from approximately 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The Jetty 2 Jetty team released a holiday message encouraging past participants to take pride in their previous marathon achievements while preparing for the upcoming season.

Course Conditions and Categories

The event is known as South East Queensland’s longest-running community fun run and features an officially accredited course. The route starts and finishes at Pelican Park in Clontarf. It hugs the Moreton Bay coastline, offering views that stretch toward Scarborough and Moreton Island. The path is predominantly flat and paved, which organisers noted is excellent for runners aiming to set a personal best time.

Participants can choose from a wide range of distances to suit different fitness levels. The United Airlines Marathon covers the full 42.2 kilometres on a looped circuit, while the Half Marathon offers a 21.1-kilometre option. Shorter distances include a 10km run, which has a specific wheelchair category, as well as a 5km run and a 3km event often used by families and children.

Fees and Participation Inclusions

Early bird entry fees usually begin around $25.00 for the shorter distances, with costs rising as the race date draws closer. Registration packages typically include a race bib with a timing chip, a finisher’s medal, and either a race singlet or visor, depending on the chosen distance.

Community Impact and Logistics

The 2026 event has partnered with the I AM KIND Movement, a charity focused on building community through kindness initiatives. The race aims to welcome everyone from elite competitors to first-time runners.

Those planning to attend should be aware of local traffic changes. Street parking around Clontarf is available but tends to fill up quickly due to road closures required for the race. Shuttle buses are often arranged from designated parking areas to help manage the crowd. Residents and visitors should expect road closures along Hornibrook Esplanade and Oxley Avenue during race hours.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation announced that the bayside region, located just outside Brisbane, will welcome the planet’s best players from 5 to 11 April 2027. This selection places the local community at the heart of the sport’s most prestigious tournament. While the early stages of the competition will span three continents in 2026, the journey for the championship trophy will ultimately end on Australian soil.

Talobilla Park is set to host the finals, where the top teams will battle for the biggest prize in women’s softball. The tournament follows a two-stage format, meaning teams must first survive intense group play overseas before they can book their ticket to Queensland. Only the top two nations from each of the three groups, along with two wild card entries, will earn the right to compete in Kippa-Ring.

Before the action reaches Australian shores, the competition will kick off next year with the Group Stage. The governing body has split the participating nations into three pools to be played in Czechia, Peru, and the USA.

Group A will start the global tour in Prague from 16 to 20 June 2026. This group features the Australian national team, currently ranked number 10 in the world. They will face stiff competition against fourth-ranked Canada, Chinese Taipei, Italy, the host nation Czechia, and Cuba.

The attention will then shift to South America for Group B action in Lima, Peru, from 14 to 18 July. This pool includes the defending Olympic champions, Japan, who claimed the title after defeating the USA in the 2024 final. They will compete against Puerto Rico, Great Britain, Venezuela, Peru, and Uganda at a venue that previously hosted the Pan American Games.

The final group will play in Oklahoma City, USA, from 12 to 16 September. Group C includes the second-ranked United States team, along with the Netherlands, China, Mexico, New Zealand, and South Africa. This leg of the tournament will take place at Devon Park, which is also the designated venue for the softball competition during the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.

A Major Win for Local Sport

The decision to bring the Women’s Softball World Cup Finals to Kippa-Ring highlights the region’s capacity to handle major international events. Hosting the final eight teams will bring significant attention to the area, similar to when Prague and Lima hosted major softball events in previous years. With Japan looking to defend their crown and Australia aiming to perform well on home turf, local fans can expect a week of high-stakes competition right in their backyard.
