Chisholm’s journey in the performing arts began at the tender age of 9, laying the foundation for what would become a promising career.
From the Stage to the Screen
Her first major break came with the role of Jane Banks in the musical production of ‘Mary Poppins,’ a performance that not only showcased her early talent but also ignited her passion for acting. From this theatrical debut, Chisholm quickly discovered her affinity for on-screen work, transitioning seamlessly into TV and film acting.
Now, Chisholm is taking on her most challenging role yet in the psychological thriller “Hagar’s Hut.” Shot over four weeks in the Kurwongbah countryside, the film tackles the sensitive topic of mental illness.
Chisholm plays the lead role of Skye, a character she says will push her abilities as an actor. Interestingly, the film was shot on property owned by her mother’s best friend, a place Chisholm considers her second home.
“Hagar’s Hut” marks Chisholm’s sixth feature film, but it’s far from her first leading role. She’s already made a name for herself with award-winning performances in short films and features. Her portrayal of Sunny in the eponymous short film earned her two Best Actress awards. She also took on the lead role of Maisey in the feature film “Strangeville.”
A Breakout Year
The year 2021 was a particularly notable year for Chisholm, with two of her films premiering at the Gold Coast Film Festival. She played a featured supporting role as Belle Miller in the horror film “House of Inequity” and starred in “Strangeville.”
Chisholm’s dedication to her craft is evident in her rigorous training regimen. She attends weekly acting classes and regular workshops to hone her skills, including American accent training. Her mentor, actress Tina Thomsen, runs an acting studio for aspiring screen actors and has been instrumental in Chisholm’s development.
But Chisholm’s talents extend beyond acting. She has a passion for writing and has already penned a feature film script. She’s also tried her hand at directing and producing, creating two short films: “Level Up: Frank Jacob” and “Resisting Saturation.”
